Our lawn care programs are designed to ensure the utmost health of your property regardless of the size. We fertilize our customer’s land 5 times per season depending on the start of the first treatment.

All our treatments begin and end in the early spring, late spring, summer, fall, and late fall. If your lawn is suffering from broadleaf weeds or white grubs, speak with one of our specialists on when the appropriate time to treat them would be.

Residential and Commercial Fertilizer Program

All turf will be fertilized 5 times per season: early spring, late spring, summer, fall, and late fall. Annual white grub management will be applied during late spring/summer and power core aeration will be performed in the fall. Broadleaf weed control will be performed on an as-needed basis in conjunction with these applications. Our fertilizing program has been carefully developed to provide for maximum turf health and the prevention and/or elimination of unwanted pests and weeds. The application schedule is primarily based on the time of year, though weather conditions and specific turfgrass issues may also play a role in determining the ideal time for a specific treatment.

Our 6-step program has been carefully developed to provide for maximum turf health and the prevention and/or elimination of unwanted pests and weeds. Note that each step includes some form of turf fertilizer.

The following is a summary of each step in the program:

Early Spring (Mid-March to Mid-April)

Crabgrass preventer + slow-release fertilizer

Helps to Prevent crabgrass and certain other weed grasses from germinating.

Late Spring (Mid to Late May)

Crabgrass preventer + slow-release fertilizers, Liquid broadleaf weed killer existing perennial broadleaf weeds (i.e.-dandelions, etc.) are eliminated.

Summer (Late June to Early July)

Slow-release fertilizer Liquid broadleaf weed killer

Existing perennial broadleaf weeds (i.e.-dandelions, etc.) are eliminated. Helps to relieve stress and ensure maximum resistance to warm, dry weather during mid-summer.

White Grub Control (Late June to early July)

Grub & insect killer + slow-release fertilizer

Kills any subsurface and surface feeding insects & larvae including grubs, cutworms, and sod webworms.

Early Fall (Mid-September)

Liquid broadleaf weed killer + fertilizer

Any existing perennial broadleaf weeds (i.e.-dandelions, etc.) are eliminated.

Late Fall (Early to Mid-October to Mid-November)

Winterizer + slow-release fertilizer Promotes healthy fall growth with prolonged greening and helps to ensure winter vigor.

Our athletic fertilizer program has been carefully crafted to keep your turf in the best health possible while preventing unwanted pests and weeds all year round. We have a specific schedule for the best times to fertilize depending on the time of year, current weather conditions, and any issues that may arise in the fertilization process. Tree & Shrub Program

This program includes Annual Bagworm Control, Japanese Beetle Control, Spring Tree/Shrub Fertilizer, Fall Tree/Shrub Fertilizer, and Ornamental Weed Control (landscaping beds). Each Service is provided 1 time during the season.

Tree and Shrub Fertilization Plus Pest Control

Like all living things, trees and shrubs must receive regular nourishment to maintain health and beauty. They also must be protected against harmful insects and destructive diseases which, when ignored, can destroy plants, or leave them damaged.

That is why your choice of Wellman’s Lawn Care Tree & Shrub Care is so important. Our tree and shrub services have been carefully developed using modern horticultural techniques. Our trained tree and shrub technicians, with state-of-the-art equipment, apply properly formulated materials on a regular treatment schedule that best suits the needs of your trees and shrubs.

A customized Wellman’s Lawn Care Tree & Shrub Care program delivers more than proper nourishment and plant protection. It also:

Insect & Disease Treatment

Consists of three insect and disease treatments. Spray applications are made to foliage for control of insects: Japanese Beetles, sawfly, tent caterpillar, cankerworms, aphids, scale, mites, leaf miners, and webworms. Diseases reduced include anthracnose, rust, apple scab, leaf spot, and powdery mildew. We would recommend a minimum of at least 2 treatments for maximum effectiveness!

Spring & Fall Fertilization

A balanced blend of fertilizers is injected into the root zone. This encourages root growth and builds plant strength for maximum summer growth and for surviving the cold winter stress.

Tree or Shrub Trimming and Removal

Deciduous and ornamental trees below 12 feet and deciduous and evergreen shrubs below 6 feet are trimmed and maintained to enhance the natural beauty of the plants. Groundcover and perennial areas are trimmed as required. This trimming is only a shaping of the plant material and controlling of outgrowth, not hard pruning of branches. Debris is removed and hauled away upon completion of each seasonal trimming.
